Omer Shubi wins prestigious VATAT scholarship for outstanding PhD students in Data Science
Omer Shubi, a PhD student in the Language Computation and Cognition (LaCC) lab headed by Dr. Yevgeni Berzak, received the Israeli Council for Higher Education (VATAT) scholarship for outstanding PhD students in Data Science. In his research, Omer develops new Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for inferring cognitive state during language processing from eye movements in reading and neural activity while listening to spoken language. Preliminary results from this research were presented at CogSci, the premier conference in the field of Cognitive Science. The scholarship is intended to allow outstanding doctoral students in data science to devote their full time to research, and to increase the number of researchers and faculty members in research universities engaged in the research fields of data science.
